HW for Tuesday, Dec 20--IRP project, gallery card and summary due!

This must be ready at the beginning of class! You must have your gallery card that is typed and gives a brief summary of the book, a description of how your project is related to the book, and any directions needed for your classmates to interact with it.

Your 4-5 paragraph, typed book summary is also due. See the back page of your IRP packet for guidelines.

Your creative project must be interactive, creative, directly related to your book and show a lot of effort on your part. This project is 25% of your grade!

HW #21 New draft of essay and work on Prezi and IRP, 12/15

For those of you still working toward a final draft of your persuasive essay, complete the new round of edits. Remember to bring in the old drafts with the new one.

Everyone must have Prezi done and ready to present on Monday, Dec. 19! Be sure your presentation covers the major ideas of your persuasive essay and includes facts for each major idea. Also, be sure to include images and a short You Tube video if it makes sense. Preview it before class on Monday so you can fix as many mistakes as possible.

HW #20, Work on your Prezi! and Study for Thursday's vocab quiz.

Your Prezi (www.prezi.com) is due by the end of class on Thursday. You will have about 30 minutes to work on it in class.

Study for your final vocab quiz of the session. See list of words attached here. Remember, quiz will ask you to match definitions to words and use five of the words in a complete, detailed sentence that shows you know the meaning.

Work on editing your paper. We'll continue this in class on Thursday. New drafts will be due by the end of the class period. Be sure you have your essay in electronic form so that you can work on it in class.

HW #16 4th draft of parent letter, 11/29

Carefully do another round of edits to your parent letter. The more careful you are, the more likely it is that this will be your final round of edits. Be sure to attach the newest copy to the top of the old drafts.

REMINDERS: Your completed, typed first draft of your persuasive essay is due by the end of class on Thursday. AND you have your second vocab quiz on Thursday. Be sure to study!

We will be working in class this week on using your outlines to complete a first draft of your persuasive essay. Completed first drafts are due Thursday, Dec. 1 at the end of class. HW #13 IRP week 4 and #14 Introductory paragraph, 11/23





  • Read and complete IRP week 4. Be sure to check the resources section of this blog if you need the question. You must meet the minimum word requirement for me to accept your homework.
  • By the end of class on Wednesday, you should have completed your typed outline for the persuasive essay topic you've chosen. Here is the handout with the correct format if you need it. If you don't finish your outline in class, you'll need to finish this over the holiday break. You need to then write your introductory paragraph. This must introduce your topic, be typed, double-spaced and at least five sentences. What is your hook to draw the reader in? Be clever and creative. Use one of the types of introductions shown here.

HW #12 Third draft of parent letter, 11/22

Carefully follow my edits to correct spelling, grammar and work on how your parent letter is organized. You must turn in the copy with my edits along with your next draft.

Note: Your outline for your persuasive essay will be due at the end of class on Wednesday.
