Narrow down your list of 5 historic/news worthy events to the one most interesting to you.  You will be setting a short, fictional story during this event so choose with that in mind. 

11.  Locate two sources, print them and highlight or underline important facts.
22.  Write a 200 word, typed, double-spaced paragraph about your event.  Focus on answering these questions:
·         Who was involved?
·         When did it happen?
·         Where did it take place?
·         What happened?  (include lots of detail)
·         Why is this event important?

WRITE IN YOUR OWN WORDS.  DO NOT COPY YOUR SOURCES WORD FOR WORD.  CHANGE WORDS AND STRUCTURE TO BE YOUR UNIQUE VOICE.

HW for Tuesday, Feb. 7--study poetic terminology, definitions and poetic examples

You will have a quiz on Thursday. Be able to match poetic terms to their definition (for example, match " alliteration" to "the repetition of words that begin with the same letter"). You must also be able to identify what technique a provided line of poetry is an example of (for example, "she walked with the whole world protecting her" is an example of both alliteration and hyperbole).

When you have completed your vocab quiz, do these two things:

1. Write a poem, at least 5 lines, using the magnetic poetry website or the class wordpool.

2. Use the poem you wrote in step 1 and paste it into the N+7 website. Hit submit and scroll down to see how your poem changes if each noun is replaced with words that follow it in the dictionary. Do you like how any of the altered poems sound? Be ready to share.
