Warm Up for Thursday, Jan. 12



When you have completed your vocab quiz, do these two things:

1. Write a poem, at least 5 lines, using the magnetic poetry website or the class wordpool.

2. Use the poem you wrote in step 1 and paste it into the N+7 website. Hit submit and scroll down to see how your poem changes if each noun is replaced with words that follow it in the dictionary. Do you like how any of the altered poems sound? Be ready to share.

Complete the IRP week 2 response (both questions!), and meet the minimum word requirement! Then use the long weekend to read ahead in your independent book and catch up on any missing work!

If you complete that, then go to the magnetic poetry website here or use words from the class wordpool (located at top right of blog under "Resources") to write a 5 line poem. Be ready to share!

HW #4: Examples of Poetry Terminology & Study for first vocab quiz, Tuesday, Jan. 10

Follow directions on the worksheet here to complete the work we started in class. You must find an example of each poetic term from your worksheet, being sure to cite the poem title and the poet for each example you use.

Also, study for the first vocab quiz for this session! Click here for the word list if you need it. Remember, you will need to spell each word, match the definitions, and use 5 of the words in a poem that shows you understand them.
